April/May 2020 - Adalyn - 1st Month during Covid-19 Quarantine

I last blogged in February to document Savannah Faye turning 2!  What fun that was - the fun before the crazy!  March 14 - I was 36 weeks pregnant with Adalyn and after much discussion and advice, Daniel and I went to the store and bought groceries to prepare to quarantine ourselves in hopes to prevent anyone in our family from contracting Covid - 19.  This virus had started to spread in America and was on the verge of an outbreak in Alabama.  I was told that if I contracted that late in pregnancy I could go into preterm labor and very possibly be separated from my baby for at least 14 days.  We did not panic or crazy buy - we just simply prepared ourselves to not leave the house for a few weeks.  This was also the end of Daniel's spring break and he was told he would be working from home for a few weeks, which turned into the rest of the semester.  Thus began the first stretch of our quarantine - we lasted 43 days...
Our kids had only seen a couple of people over the course of those days.  We have done a lot of playing outside, eating outside, and completing house projects!  When Adalyn was born DibDab came to stay for a week - which was a huge help and a great change for the kids.  After she went home Gigi and Gpa came to visit for Easter weekend - we were thankful for the company and visits!

We lasted a few more weeks, but on April 26 - we caved - we packed and loaded up and went down south to visit all of the grandparents for a week.  This was a much needed break for all of us - the kids got to play with cousins and Daniel and I got out of the house and had adult conversations :).  As I type this we have started our count over :)  The kids and I are on day 8 since returning from Geneva County and Daniel left today for a week long hiking trip - I guess that counts as quarantining as well!
Our world is crazy and scary these days - everyone wears masks when in stores and around town, we do not linger shopping and we sanitize and wash everything we touch.  I pray that this disease goes away soon and people can return to a more normal living - however, I am thankful for the time we have had together as a family at home with out so many "things to do" on our calendar.

Kiddo Updates:
Lee -
Lee is continuing to do school - we have a hard time focusing on it when the weather is so nice outside and we can just go out and have fun :) I am sad for him as this would have been the first summer he could participate in VBS as a student, but those are being cancelled or changed all around us.  It is hard to believe he is almost 5 and will be starting kindergarten in August!  He is still the sweetest and LOVES his baby sister!  He is constantly coming to check on her and love on her.  He and Savannah Faye play well together!

Savannah Faye -
Savannah Faye is quite funny in all that she says and does these days - I have to frequently remind myself she is 2 - she talks and knows so much.  She communicates so well!  She absorbs so much from Lee's school and always has to have something to do during that time as well.  She has learned to ride the tricycle and tells me she is going to go "peddle her bicycle"!

Adalyn -
Adalyn went for her one month appointment on May 7th.  She weighed 9 pounds 15.8 ounces (the scale kept bumping up to 10 pounds even) which is the 65% and 22 inches long which is the 82%.  That is up 2 pounds 4.8 ounces in a month!!  She lost her umbilical cord on 4/14 and had her first tub bath on 4/14.  She started to give us a few little smiles toward the end of the month.  Her first big road trip was at 3 weeks as I mentioned above - she did great.  Sleeping 3-4 hours at night and easy to get to sleep.  Not much other  craziness happened in her first month - other than just still living in the Covid -19 Quarantine....

Here are LOTS of pictures from our month - I will caption some of them :)

Last picture as a family of 4! We did this same thing with Lee before Savannah Faye was born...then took a picture of the four us again.  I'll post those with Adalyn maybe next month!
Delivery day!!!
Thanks to Covid-19 - we look like bandits in the delivery room!
When the nurses left the room - I snuck brief moments of oxygen :) I had to wear an actual oxygen mask for a little while during labor and "lost" my cute yellow mask under my pillow somewhere!  Thankfully my baby did not have to see me with a mask on when she arrived!

This momma hopes her feelings change about the bows in the next year!!!  Clearly she is not happy!

The two very excited older siblings waiting to meet their little sister!
I think he might have been the most excited!!! He even fixed his hair for us!  Bless him it was soaking wet when we walked in the door!! LOVE how much he loves his sisters!
Savannah Faye wanted to hold "her Adalyn" - so she would not smile for me!
Finally a decent picture - love them looking at her!!!
She is happy now haha!
Because of hospital restrictions HeeHaw and Gigi and Gpa did not get to come up when Adalyn was born.  But she got to meet them all soon after!

Easter Egg Coloring!
During the quarantine - isolation - whatever you call it - we converted my old garden (that did not grow anything) into a sandbox!! They love it!
This year's Easter Egg Hunt consisted of two children who had about 80 eggs to find!  Last year we had about 20 kids in our back yard to egg hunt.  This isolation has been hard, but thankful for the time we have with each other and our health!
Hello Gigi!!! Thankful for my mother in love!
